Our 2nd event is as many weeks, once again the “no wind” train followed from Punta Cana to Jupiter, FL for the 8th annual Jupiter Kite Invasion. With 16 year old NOMADS, Peter Knof and Charles Osterlund along for the trip from Cabarete, along with 16 year old NOMAD Maika Buckley from Santa Barbara, we picked up the Airbound Van upon landing and hit Jupiter. Unfortunately we were out of luck with the wind and air temp but the van proved to be the spot for all the young riders hanging out to get warm, blast some Dub-step through the windows, and eat anything they could get their hands on. Our second day there a small refraction swell hit us from the Bahamas and everyone quickly became stoked on the Jimmy Lewis SUP demos that were there to use. From races to riding waves everyone was stoked. Airbound designer John O’Callaghan also pleased the crowd with hand painted trucker caps for all.
The crowd was in good spirits despite the no wind and some of the younger guys took a trip to RIXEN Cable park to test out their skills while the remainder of riders sat back and enjoyed some great films of Invasions from years past on the beach. Once again it proved to be an awesome event and was great to see all the new young kiters coming up together. Thanks to Jeremy and his staff for putting on a great weekend. We will see you at invasion in 2012.
